The Process
The launch of Call of Duty Warzone 3 Season 1 marked a pivotal moment for the popular game mode, aiming to revive the hype that had waned since its initial success in 2020. To amplify this moment, boohooMAN partnered with Activision for an influencer activation, the boohooMAN Warzone Challenge, a high-energy, single-day event with a short marketing lead-up. I was tasked with creating the event’s identity and assets, crafting a visual system that would reinforce the collaboration, capture the essence of the event, and reignite excitement among fans, all while aligning with Warzone’s bold, futuristic brand.
Given the event’s brief lifespan, the logo needed to be simple and effective, prioritizing immediate impact over long-term recognition. I designed a wordmark logo that seamlessly blended the boohooMAN and Warzone identities, ensuring the collaboration was clear while conveying the event’s competitive, high-stakes energy. The color palette was a strategic choice, rooted in psychology and nostalgia, to reconnect with fans who loved the first Warzone but drifted away during the second. I subtly referenced the original game’s aesthetic with muted greens and grays, evoking a sense of familiarity, while staying consistent with Warzone 3’s official branding.
Drawing inspiration from Warzone’s in-game map, particularly its iconic grid, I applied a custom grid to the designs, creating a cohesive visual thread across all assets. This grid not only tied the identity to the game’s universe but also added a structured, tactical feel that resonated with the event’s competitive nature. Bringing the assets to life through motion was the final step, animating the grid and other elements to deliver an engaging viewer experience that captured the intensity of the event. The result was a dynamic, unified identity that amplified the collaboration, rekindled fan excitement, and set the stage for an unforgettable broadcast event.
